jamshedpur: jharkhand chief minister babulal marandi would beat his own drum to drown the opposition's cry against his government. stung by the criticism on the poor performance by the opposition, the chief minister has chalked out a series of meetings to tell the people about the achievements of his government. he would visit one block in all the 22 districts in the state.
the chief minister, however, will not just talk. he would also inaugurate a scheme or lay foundation stone in the blocks he visits. ministers and the local party leaders would accompany him to the meeting. a bjp leader said that marandi will visit the blocks and spend time with the people of each block and listen to their grievances. the government has also formed 13 groups headed by a minister to cover the remaining 70-odd blocks in the state. they will make people aware of the work accomplished by the government in the short span of a year. a new project, too, will be launched, bjp sources informed. marandi has already covered a couple of places. the chief minister on monday visited the copper town of ghatsila, where he laid the foundational stone of a divisional hospital and a bridge. the bjp top brass feel that the government's image has suffered because of the propaganda by the opposition. they are apparently worried about the people's perception on the performance of babula marandi-led nda government. some of the senior bjp leaders have voiced concern over the government's failure on the public relations (pr) front. the government did not pay much attention in highlighting its achievements in the last one year, a senior party functionary said and added: we want to change the perception that the government wasted the first year in office, as propagated by the opposition parties. the bjp think-tank hopes that masses would sway at marandi's drum beat. the opposition has tried to takeadvantage of the situation by creating confusion about the nda-led government in jharkhand, a senior bjp leader said and added that marandi's tour will make up for the lapses.
